Measure to expand its drone-as-a-service offering with new funding

Drone-as-a-service company Measure wants to expand its drone service to enterprise customers. The company announced a US$15 million series B round of funding. The funding will be used to help Measure acquire, process and deliver actionable aerial data.

“This is a tremendous moment for Measure and for the drone industry, and we believe 2017 is when everyone pivots toward services,” said Brandon Torres Declet, CEO of Measure. “This investment round will help make it possible to expand to new customers. We look forward to continuing to work with Cognizant to offer new, innovative services around data analysis not currently available in the market.”

Measure was founded to help businesses and customers establish a drone program without having to worry about expenses and risks. The company offers a fleet of drones and trained pilots to help businesses obtain actionable aerial insights in a safe, legal and insured way. According to the company, they don”T make drones; they make drones work.

The company services industries in cell tower inspections, construction development, precision agriculture, disaster response, and live media coverage. The company reported that its pilots flew more than 1,100 flights last year.

In addition to the round of funding, the company announced it is strengthening its relationship with Cognizant, an information technology, consulting and business process service provider.

“Drone services are one of the fastest growing technology segments with the potential to provide extraordinary value to industries such as insurance, manufacturing, logistics, oil and gas, retail, government, and media and communications,” said Sean Middleton, president of the Cognizant Accelerator, of which Cognizant Ventures is a division. “Cognizant is excited to deepen our relationship with Measure through this investment, and bring our world-class digital capabilities, such as advanced data analytics and software development, to enterprise customers looking to create value from data collected via drones.”
