DJI is giving drone operators and pilots the ability to experience drones in a new way than ever before. With new features and specifications for its DJI Goggles, the company is providing operators with a first-person view of what their drone sees.
“DJI pilots deserve a first-person viewing experience with the same quality, power, and performance they have come to expect from our aerial platforms. We fully expect that they will be thrilled with the fun and immersive experience of flying with our goggles,” said Paul Pan, DJI’s senior product manager. “We have refined every element of DJI Goggles to the same standards as our aerial platforms, and we have optimized their connectivity to provide the most amazing drone experience yet.”
The DJI Goggles feature large ultra-high quality screens, long-range and low-latency wireless connectivity as well as photo and video capture control. DJI Mavic Pro or Phantom 4 owners can expand the experience even further with intelligent flight features such as ActiveTrack, TapFly, Terrain Follow, Cinematic Mode and Tripod mode available on the goggles? touchpad.
The googles include 1920×1080 resolution screens to provide twice the amount of pixels than traditional 2K screens, no latticing, head tracking, and built in interfaces to work with a range of devices.
“A unique solid headband design balances and spreads the weight of DJI Goggles around the head evenly, minimizing pressure on the face and keeping them comfortable to wear for hours. People who wear glasses are also able to wear them comfortably. The screen portion of DJI Goggles can be flipped up to glimpse the real world, or detached entirely for easy storage and portability,” the company wrote on its website.
The goggles are currently priced at $449, and will begin shipping after May 20, 2017.
