UTM in Practice: An International Research Perspective
With a PhD in Machine Learning and 35 years in aerospace, Dr Martin combines experience in boots-on-the-ground operations, commercial leadership and research. This experience spans more than 20 years as an aerospace engineer in the Australian Air Force and Army, on a variety of manned and unmanned, fixed and rotary wing platforms, professorial positions at Queensland Uni of Technology and Uni of South Australia and more recently as a consortium Project Director overseeing a complex suite of UAS Traffic Management (UTM) R&D and trials in Singapore.
Join Dr. Martin as he discusses the ground-breaking work he led in Singapore alongside new directions he is taking in Australia and globally as CTO of a startup. His presentation will cover the R&D and T&E challenges in metropolitan environments including use of LTE and 5G for command and control, surveillance and remote identification, design and operation of a routing and scheduling system to support efficient package delivery and the ominous challenges to be addressed around fairness and equity
